Caritas-Goa disburses the subsidy received from the Pontifical Society of the Missionary Childhood. Needy and deserving children under the age of 14 receive educational benefits through institutions like the Diocesan Society of Education and Orphanages. Differently-abled and other needy children are funded for corrective surgery and specialized treatment.

  • b) To assist poor individuals with medical treatment and personal needs (with appropriate recommendation).

3. Mr. & Mrs. Michael de Figueiredo Foundation

Bob and Osla, a couple living in the U.S.A., have established the Mr. & Mrs. Michael de Figueiredo Foundation, which is managed by Caritas-Goa. The foundation supports the following initiatives:

4. Sponsorship Programme by International Adoption, Italy

Caritas-Goa, in collaboration with International Adoption, Italy, and The Joy Sowers, Belgium, sponsors around 30 economically backward students in their education. Needy students receive financial assistance for purchasing books, uniforms, payment of fees, transportation, etc.

5. Sponsorship Programme for Tribal Students in the Hostels of Mission of Daman

At the request of the Mission of Daman, Caritas-Goa appealed to several parishes in the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman to sponsor tribal students in the mission. Generous parishioners contribute to Caritas-Goa, which forwards the funds to the Mission of Daman for the maintenance and education of tribal children residing in the mission hostels. Last year, 300 students were sponsored.
